(Outdated) Engine change - GameMakerStudio (2)

AS OF LATE MARCH 2023, WE DECIDED THAT WE WILL GO BACK TO GDEVELOP 5

Hi yes uhh, I've decided to move onto GMS(2) instead of still using Gdevelop5

The change was made based off of the fact that it's hard to segregate and categorise stuff in Gdevelop5, the urge to finally learn a programming launguage for later projects and the fact I can re-use original code for testing/placeholder purposes

We are NOT using a decomp as a base nor planning to keep decomp stuff in

Gdevelop5 is an amazing game engine for people who prefers logic and readability over writing, but not for people that don't know how to categorise and segregate

It's perfect for learning, smaller or simple projects but also some complex and advanced projects (if you don't have spagetti code problems and know how to optimise code)

It's sad that most of stuff isn't integrated into the engine and they focus on anything else, but doing something to make the engine optimized and fun to use, constant user interface changes which is barely readable and looks like cheap plastic hurts alot

GameMakerStudio(2) is slightly better, most of stuff is arleady integrated and the ui is close to perfect

The visual scripting is very cut from aspects that normal coding has tho, at least it isn't Godot

I can't really say much more about GMS as I didn't really use it for long enough
